(6/10)Hakuouki is an okay historical anime about a young girl named Yukimura Chizuru who goes out on an adventure to find her missing father. She disguises herself as a boy so that it won't look weird that she's walking alone. It was getting dark one night while she was walking through a town. She was spotted by these demon-like people called Rasetsu. She was cornered and about to be killed, when she was saved by the Shinsengumi, an all male police force. They did not know what to do with her because she had seen the Rasetsu, so they decided to take her back to their base. Not all of them noticed that she was a girl. Would she be killed or would they let her stay?
The Shinsengumi decided that Chizuru could stay, but that she had to keep the Rasetsu a secret. She gladly listened due to fear, but as time progressed she began to become friends with the Shinsengumi. She fit in as part of the group by the end, but she was being targeted by beings called Oni. Oni were people with a special blood that caused them to be very powerful compared to normal humans and they could also heal very quickly. Rasetsu were attempts to make a human into an Oni. It always failed, so as a result the Rasetsu were basically bloodthirsty beasts.
This show does not really have a defining ending. Basically it just ends without her finding her father or anything being resolved. This irritated me and the series was not that exciting either. It was a cool concept and not a horrible anime, but I've seen better. I would give this show a 6 out of 10. You can watch it if it interests you, but I just found it kind of dull.(6/10)
